DO NOT PLAGIARIZE, EVERYTHING SHOULD BE IN OWN WORDS.

You will need to listen to the lectures on persuasion (focusing on the sections on the communicator, the message, and the audience) before you reply to this post.

POST: Please DO NOT upload an attachment. We should be able to read your post in the forum without having to open any additional documents. You will not be able to see your classmates’ posts until after your initial post. In your post, please reflect on and answer the following 4 questions in detail:

  1. Locate and post a product advertisement that you think would be interesting for the class to discuss. (A quick web search for a specific product’s advertisement is helpful.) After you have found your image and copied it to your computer, click on the “reply” box and click on the “Images” icon (looks like a mountain.) Click on “Upload Image” and then click and drag it to the “upload image” box. Be sure to resize the advertisement so that the class an easily view itIt should measure at least 6″ across (or you may lose points.)
  1. Identify the target audience.
  2. Name and describe at least 2 specific persuasion techniques from the lectures that you find in use in the advertisement. Look at all 3 areas–the communicator, the message, and the audience. Please do not bring in persuasion techniques you may have learned in your writing or speech classes such as ethos, pathos, and logos. I want you to focus on what you learned in this class.
  3. Keeping in mind the target audience, do you think the ad was effective overall? Why or why not?

Do not post an external link, you will not get credit.

REPLY:

  1. Add at least one additional persuasion technique from the lectures you see being used.
  2. Give your assessment on the effectiveness of the advertisement, keeping in mind the target audience.
